Why have Vendors?
It's nice to have local moms with their hand-made items and home businesses. Some
sales limit the vendors to 25% of the total number of tables.
Some sales put all the vendors together in their own room or area - this is NOT
recommended. Vendor tables should be mixed in with the re-sale tables. This works out
much better.
We have had some great mom vendors that our mom shoppers and table sellers have
asked them to come back like Heather the Hairbow Lady, Melissa the Moms Rock T-Shirt
Lady, Stacey the Rhinestone Lady, Susan the Knitting Lady, etc.
Get Vendors to Donate an Item
Consider charging the same price for Vendors, but asking them to donate an item equal to
their table fee. So if the table free is $15, then ask them to donate an item worth $15 or a
$15 gift certificate for their services.
Raffle these Donated Vendor Items
Hand out a two free Raffle tickets to everyone at the sale, including the sellers. Then sell
additional tickets for a nominal price like 50 cents each or 3/$1.00.
Put a brown lunch bag in next to (not in front of so you don't block it) of their donated item
with their business name written on the front. Then people can drop in the raffle tickets in
the bag of the item they hope to win.
Allow vendors to put our their business cards, marketing cards, coupons, or flyers next to
their item also.
Include a small sign, a folded index card works great, to let people putting their raffle tickets
in that the vendor has a table at the sale and indicate where - main floor, basement, etc.
Make a Vendor Flyer
Ask vendors to include a business card with two business cards with their application. One
for you to keep for future reference. The other to create a Vendor Flyer. Even if you don't
have any computer or graphic design skills. Just take the business cards to a Copy
Center. Ask for a piece of sturdy cardstock and some clear tape. Just layout the business
cards on the cardstock and tape them down. There's your most simple Vendor Flyer.
Make enough copies for everyone coming to your sale to receive one. Have these flyers at
the front of the door and hand them out to every person at the sale. Promote your vendors.
