Habitat for Humanity - London Ontario - 519.455.6623 Unit 10, 45 Pacific Ct., London, Ontario, N5V 3N4 - www.habitat.london.on.ca Habitat for Humanity is a "hand-up not a hand-out." Our long-term goal is the elimination of poverty housing. Habitat works through the partnership of volunteers, homeowners, churches, businesses and communities. An Ecumenical Christian housing ministry, Habitat for Humanity's policies are inclusive and nondiscriminatory. Homeowners contribute 500 hours of "SWEAT EQUITY" towards the construction of their own homes. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, non-government organization that grants interest- free, long-term mortgages that are continually recycled to build more houses.
Habitat for Humanity is an organization built on the generosity of people. The people of Habitat donate money, building materials, labour and their time. There are many opportunities to get involved, and Habitat warmly welcomes people with all kinds of skills, from all walks of life. There are a number of committees that volunteers can get involved in year round: Faith Relations, The ReStore, Fund-raising, Finance, Family Selection, Build Committee, Volunteer Committee, Speakers Bureau.
Volunteers are also needed to work on the build-site. Volunteers are not only important for the actual construction of a new home, but they also make a very important contribution by helping to provide meals and refreshments for those volunteers doing the building. Donations of money, supplies, building materials and land are always needed. Volunteers are always needed to work in the Habitat ReStore. You don't have to be experienced in construction or sales to be the biggest help to the Habitat cause.
