Twitter Party Time

WHAT IS A TWITTER PARTY?
A Twitter Party is an online event with a cause or reason for people to get together. Specifically Twitter Parties take place on my favorite social media site Twitter. There is a host of the party such as @TimeOutMom, there sometimes is a sponsor of the party that gives away prizes, and there are attendees who are anyone with a Twitter account that is interested in the party’s topic, product, and prizes.

TWITTER PARTY BOOKING:
Email Melissa at TimeOutMom@gmail.com if you are interested in booking a twitter party. It is fantastic to plan 14-30 days in advance, however, we have been known to turn it around sooner than that!

CLIENT TWITTER PARTY TESTIMONIAL:
(Copy of e-mail sent to me by Lara Galloway @MomBizCoach)

Melissa,

I have attended many twitter parties in the last year, but this was my first try at hosting one (with your phenomenal support!). I had to write to tell you how pleased I am with the results! As you know, we planned the party in conjunction with the launch of my new coaching program for mompreneurs. When you suggested we host a twitter party to raise awareness about the program, I thought it was a great idea. After all, my target audience is already on twitter in the evenings, and creating a specific event with a focused topic of discussion made sense to me. The fact that the discussion centered on all the topics I cover in my training program made many of the participants naturally curious to learn more about what I do, without me having to tell them to go check out my new program.

While it’s one thing to attend a twitter party, it’s a completely different animal to host one. I had NO IDEA how much planning, strategy and organization you put into such a thing. I was grumbling a little inside about that “homework” you gave me – tweets for each of my target market, links to my blog posts, links to outside articles, coming up with prizes for each questions, a freebie, a special offer at the end…. NOW, I understand how doing all of that made me look like a complete SuperStar !

What seemed on the outside to be a fun, easy-going, and lively discussion about motherhood and business was actually a beautifully orchestrated event. You are such a genius when it comes to figuring out the questions to ask to stimulate exactly the right conversation. And you were the consummate hostess welcoming all the participants to the chat, and kept on eye on new arrivals and welcomed them as they showed up even at the very end. You kept track of everything – you were like an air traffic controller for me and my two VAs – telling us when to give a prize, when to comment on a question, when you were moving to the next question, etc. You had an eye on the big picture and just let me be me and concentrate on connecting with the attendees and doing what I do best. You took care of all the details! As you know working with me, I don’t like to be bothered with the details – you are so great at just telling me what to do.

And I’m thrilled with the results: Around 200 people showed up to the party. During the party, I gained over 100 new followers with whom I had never had contact before. And because they were actively participating in a discussion about mompreneurs, they are highly targeted followers, not just random people who would never be interested in my business offerings! I received around 20 DMs asking for more information or the chance to discuss my services in detail, and had several follow-up phone calls with people I met for the first time at the party. Three people signed up for my program, and there are several more nibbling. Four days after the party, I’m still seeing people using the hashtag #mombiz we created to continue the conversation, AND I’ve received about a dozen requests wondering when the next twitter party will be!

This twitter party was a total success in my book. I am an Engagement Marketer, and I know that getting my audience engaged with me (and with each other) about a topic that is relevant to my expertise is the magic that keeps my pipeline full of qualified leads. I am so grateful for your marketing savvy and organizational wizardry! You are one of the few people who truly understands Social Marketing Strategy and how to maximize its power. I could never have pulled this off without you! So, I would like to repeat this on a monthly basis for the rest of 2010. Are you available on the 4th Monday of each month to host my Mom Biz Makeover Twitter Parties for April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December ? If you are interested in doing this – send me the link to your web-site to book (and pay for) April’s party on your calendar right now so I can start my end of planning for it. I will be in touch soon and look forward to your “homework” to make April’s event a success also (okay, not really, but I will do it because you told me to and now I have proof how it works and makes me look like a SuperStar!)

Thanks so much for all of your hard work, planning, and coordinating !
