ABOUT THE TARGET GRANT PROGRAM
With help from The Ellen DeGeneres Show and its viewers, will select 50 schools in need to each receive a $100,000 grant. The $5 million donation from Target to local K-12 schools across the country is part of the company’s commitment to education, which includes plans to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
To help choose the 50 schools that will each receive a $100,000 grant from Target, The Ellen DeGeneres Show has engaged its viewers in the selection process. Viewers have been asked to submit the name of a school that needs help, along with a compelling story that explains why the school should receive a grant, to The Ellen DeGeneres Show at ellen.warnerbros.com/schoolgiving.

WHICH SCHOOLS ARE CHOSEN? Target will select from these submissions the 50 schools to receive a grant that can be used to support an improved learning environment for kids including new books, upgraded technology and more.

I LOVE MY TARGET
I have always loved Target! Who doesn’t love Target? One of things that I have loved to see when I check out at the cash register, or getting help at their Customer Service desk, or on the way to their clean bathrooms (I have 3 kids, we are always using bathrooms and us moms know where the good bathrooms are and we plan around it!) . . . is their hand-written signs telling me how much they have given back to MY local schools. I love that they give back to MY kids’ schools and to my former high school.

This resonates with me and so many other moms. From Day 1, I have felt that that Target cares about my local community and my local schools. You know what this means? This means they care about ME and MY children! How many other companies can you say that about? Do you what they are doing in your community? Do you know how they give back? Every single time I go to Target and see those signs, it makes it real for me.

TARGET’S TAKE CHARGE INITIATIVE FOR SCHOOLS

Since 1997, Target REDcard holders (Target’s own credit card), have helped schools fund everything from field trips to books to computers with it’s Take Charge of Education Program.

You can use your Target Debit Card, Target Credit Card, or Target Visa Credit Card to support your favorite K-12 school. Local schools get funding via guests using their Target REDCards to make purchases and specifying which local school they would like to support.

Target will then donate 1% of your REDCard purchases at Target back to your specified school. You can find out if your school is enrolled or eligible on the Target website.

Bonus: You also get free shipping for any of your Target.com purchases, plus you get a 5% discount on all of your purchases!
